ABOUT JOSE ALEJANDRO ENRIQUEZ
Greetings! I\'m Jose Alejandro Enriquez, a Canadian Pipeline Technical Director and Head of Pipeline at Barnstorm VFX, as well as a College Professor at Seneca College in Toronto, Canada.Since 2010, I’ve been immersed in the VFX industry, developing a deep understanding of the entire pipeline through diverse roles. My journey began with five years as a generalist in the fast-paced world of TV commercials, where I honed my skills across various pipeline needs. I then spent a few years as a compositor for movies and television before transitioning to the pipeline department, where I\'ve found my true calling.In my current role at Barnstorm VFX, I lead pipeline architecture, design, and execution, crafting workflows that span every department from ingestion to final delivery. My focus is on optimizing the entire pipeline to enhance the user experience for artists and production teams alike. I work across all departments, ensuring that the tools and processes we develop meet the diverse needs of our projects.Here are some of my key skills and tools- Experience with multiple AWS services, including App Runners and Lambdas- Advanced experience with the Python API of Nuke, Mari, Maya, and Houdini- Proven ability to configure shows from ingestion, color configuration, plugins, and final delivery to the client- Advanced experience with Python and TCL, along with knowledge of XHTML, CSS, and packages such as PySide/QT- Familiarity with design patterns, clean code practices, and unit testing for Python- Advanced understanding of color configuration with OCIO and color encoding systems such as ACES- Experience with open-source tools and libraries like REZ, USD, OpenImageIO, OpenColorIO, and FFmpeg- Proficiency in creating apps within major DCCs using the Flow Tracking (Shotgun) Toolkit- Good knowledge of Docker and REST APIs- Experience managing departments using Agile methodologies, ensuring meticulous progress tracking and reporting to stakeholders- Basic knowledge of C++.I’m passionate about delivering high-quality work, staying current with industry advancements, and sharing my knowledge with the next generation of VFX professionals through teaching.
