ABOUT JOSE AHUMADA

Jose is an urban planner and senior international development consultant. His professional experience has focused in fragile contexts globally, as in South-East Asia, Africa, and Latin America. The projects Jose has worked generally involve several stakeholders from different sectors –including local governments, and need a high capacity for coordinating and understanding views and interests into an integrated vision. His specific expertise lies in climate action plans, resilience strategies, inclusive urban development, strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, and urban governance. Recently he\'s been involved in urban development projects in Egypt and India, and also leading global strategic works for global partners. Jose has led a diverse range of bids, projects and initiaives for development clients, including UN organisations (UNOPS, UN Women), Developments Banks (ADB, AfDB, IADB, CAF), the World Bank, philantropic orgsanisations and Foundations. Between 2021 and 2022 Jose was based in Lima, Peru as part of the Technical Assurance team within the UK - Peru Governments\' agreement to collaborate on implementing the \"Reconstruccion with changes\" programme. He supported the Peruvian government on issues related to Stakeholder Management for the reconstruction of 74 schools; and on planning the transition to operations of 15 Healthcare facilitiesIn the past, he\'s contributed to diverse projects as a strategy analyst and city coordinator for resilience assessments and strategies in countries such as Chile, Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, UK, Uruguay and South Africa. He was also part of the core team for developing a methodology to assess resilience in Small Island Developing States (SIDS), piloting it in the Dominican Republic; and in the team for updating the climate action plan in the city of Buenos Aires, based on the C40 methodology. He also contributed to the development of a framework to holistically assess vulnerable urban contexts on their performance to support Early Childhood Development (ECD).He trained as an architect at the Universidad de Chile, and as Urban Planner at the University College London.
