ABOUT JOSALYN SMITH

I’m an analytical Director of Billing, offering a comprehensive background in leading medical billing and coding operations while taking proactive measures and mitigating risks. In my current role as a Director of Billing at United Surgical Partners International, I steer a team of individuals in attainment of daily goals, including maintaining an optimal level of accuracy, compliance and timeliness. During my tenure, I leveraged my knowledge of coding and billing regulations to recover up to $105M in annual reimbursement expenses. Prior to that, I was Health Information Management (HIM) Revenue Integrity Manager at Parkland Hospital and Health Systems where I facilitated the continuous improvement of internal controls and processes to enable my team of 14 internal resources to achieve operational goals and targets. Under my strategic direction, we achieved the goal of ensuring Discharged not final billed (DNFB) cases remained under a average of $7M. I continued my education to pursue a Master of Science from The University of Texas at Arlington where I majored in Health Administration. I also earned a Bachelor of Science in Health Information Management from the University of Cincinnati. My core competencies include critical thinking and strategic planning skills to drive alignment of revenue maximation with regulatory compliance to deliver outstanding results.
