ABOUT JORGE SELVA

Early in my career, I learned that the most meaningful success in business rarely comes from strategy alone. It comes from relationships, trust, and a willingness to invest in the growth of others. That lesson shaped more than 27 years in global leadership roles at Procter & Gamble and continues to guide my work today.I am a Teaching Professor at the Xavier University - Williams College of Business, where I focus on helping students prepare for careers in complex, relationship-driven organizations. My approach centers on experiential learning, coaching, and connecting classroom concepts to the realities students will face once they begin leading teams and managing customers/clients.Before entering academia, my work at P&G spanned sales, strategy, and customer development roles across multiple international markets. I had the opportunity to work alongside outstanding teams and retail partners, navigating change, solving difficult problems, and driving growth in highly competitive environments. Those experiences continue to shape how I teach and mentor today. In the classroom, my goal is straightforward: help students develop sound judgment, communicate with confidence, and build the kind of leadership habits that endure long after graduation. I also lead Xavier’s NEXT Sales Program, working closely with industry partners to prepare students for careers in professional selling and sales management. What motivates me most is seeing people discover what they are capable of—whether that means supporting students as they launch their careers, collaborating with business leaders, or mentoring professionals as they navigate new challenges and career transitions.I am always glad to connect with others who care deeply about developing people, and bringing business education closer to real-world practice.
