ABOUT JORGE PATIÑO
I work at the intersection of geospatial analysis and urban systems, using satellite data and GIS to analyze how cities grow and how urban form, green spaces, and climate exposure shape risk, sustainability, and long-term planning.My experience combines applied research and consulting. At EAFIT University’s RiSE Group, I worked on urban and environmental projects using remote sensing and spatial indicators to support planning and sustainability initiatives. In Colombia, I led technical teams developing geospatial methodologies for wetland mapping and environmental planning in complex and data-scarce territories.I am trained as a geological engineer, with graduate studies in Earth sciences and a Ph.D. in geodesy and GIS. My work focuses on producing concrete analytical outputs, such as spatial indicators, methodologies, and decision-oriented insights that can be used by governments, international organizations, and private-sector teams working on urban development, infrastructure, and environmental risk assessment.
