Facilities Project Engineer @Universal Orlando Resort
Orlando, FL, US
Responsible individual (RI) for the timely and accurate construction of building and facilities that support highly themed amusement rides. Accountable for the completion of general MEP systems, as well as specific systems required for an attraction’s special effects. Led the MEP design of multiple projects ranging from $30M to $300M. Avoided impacts to budget and schedule by collaborating with ride and show stakeholders, and ensuring that the design met their requirements for power, cooling, communications, and others; or otherwise making reasonable allowances for the missing information. Drove the on-time completion of facilities and utilities scopes by reviewing and responding to hundreds of RFI’s and Submittals. Minimized unforeseen costs by reviewing change order requests for scope accuracy. Managed and completed project close-out via punch list items, managed customer expectations vs. contracted scope vs. code requirements. Directed Architect/Engineer with regards to low voltage and communications requirements. From connecting buildings to park-wide networks, to sizing and locating server/network rooms. Provided infrastructure to support field devices for multiple systems, such as themed lighting, AV, show systems, general WiFi, and Building Management Systems (BMS). Managed vendor lifecycle including bidding, contracts, change orders, invoicing, and close-outs.
