About Jorge Ayarza
Since the pandemic we have focused our attention to recycling of beach waste and developed low cost recycling solutions for rural areas. Will start training programs for youth in use of open source technologies for transforming plastic waste into useful products. A large percentage of youth globally are now unemployed and they need training and support. As of April 2018 in Auroville, we have created Indias largest open source 3D printer that will serve as a manufacturing hub for rural development. First tests are using recycled plastic as a raw material to print parts. In the coming months, we will test composite materials (plastic + natural fibres) and ceramic parts. In 2023 we have built a portable house 3D printer to be built locally by entrepreneurs, masons and anybody dealing with construction. Our approach is to develop circular economy solutions at the local level that can be implemented in a bottoms-up approach making them economical, easy to use and demonstrate the use of local aggregates and earth as the building block of the new era of low cost home construction in India.
