Let’s make today better than yesterday!In a manufacturing setting on any given day different problems will arise. There will be days the working teams can be firing on all cylinders and other days’ different obstacles will throw production off of its tracks. As a leader in the manufacturing industry it is my duty to motivate and encourage the team. One cannot wind the clock back. so regardless if the team had a bad day, the best thing to do is move on and learn from the experience, correct the issues, and try to make the next day better. Same approach can be taken when working teams are thriving. If today was a great day, why not have an even greater day the following day. I truly believe that a positive attitudes lead to safe and positive working environments. I am a true believer in Lean Six Sigma Methods. Apart from Safety and Quality which should be nonnegotiable, production numbers are all we have to show for at the end. It tells the story of how well a leader can lead a team. If data can be collected, is finite, and quantitative I believe it can be improved. This is a piece of the Define, measure, analyze, improve, and control method of Lean Six Sigma that has been proven to work in manufacturing. Production, uptime, and machine run speeds all full under DMAIC. As a leader it is my duty to help the working teams understand the bigger picture and not alienate the team from the mission. At the end of the day the human resource is the biggest asset any company can have. Without the man power one cannot achieve the goals laid out by the company.
