ABOUT JORGE CUEVAS ANTILLON
I am passionate about schooling, teaching and learning, especially biliterate reading, but also about social justice and generational responsibility. I have a commitment for improving the world, by what I do, how I treat others, by the legacy I leave behind through what I did, what I wrote and even what I ate, but most especially what I demonstrated, taught and nurtured. After decades in public school education, as an elementary and high school teacher, as a teacher trainer, as an instructional coach, as a school and district administrator, as a graduate school university instructor, as a textbook author and as a school district grant writer and manager, I spent a few years founding a small business built on the principles of health for humans, compassion for animals and sustainability, which grew successful even as it maintained eco-friendly practices and ensured living wages for employees. I concurrently tapped my love for education as a textbook author for a bilingual language arts/literacy series now adopted in several states.I now fortify my passions through work in education and continued aspirations to foster a more healthy world. I exercise my vocation as an expert in language acquisition and biliteracy instruction while maintaining a calling to inspire caring for the future of all life. I also serve as a volunteer for community supporting causes, such as scholarships for first generation college-bound students, and as a former board member to a nonprofit dedicated to affordable housing for low income families and seniors throughout the state. I remain dedicated to a greater and transcendent collective good via service, which renders life to be engaging, meaningful and ultimately fulfilling.
