Leading a pioneering freshwater mussel restoration project in the Anacostia River, propagating 5 native unionid mussel species for conservation and biofiltration purposes. •Responsible for developing and implementing ecosystem restoration projects on public lands including tidal wetland restoration, invasive plant management, arboriculture, submerged aquatic vegetation (SAV) propagation, grassland habitat creation among other projects. •Conducting vegetation surveys and photo-monitoring to assess the effectiveness of restoration actions. •Inventorying urban wildlife using camera-traps, assessing vernal pool habitats and leading a citizen science effort to document the biodiversity of the Anacostia River watershed using the iNaturalist application and organizing an annual Anacostia River Bioblitz since 2017. •Performing project management duties such as documenting project expenses, helping with invoicing, tracking progress, coordinating operations, building partnerships, creating contracts; and supervising contractors and consultants; budgeting; and project status reporting.•Responsible for creating grant proposals to government agencies, foundations and private companies. •Assisting the communications team with social media on Facebook, lnstagram, Twitter, blogs, other venues.•Coordinating, and leading volunteer events engaging the public in restoration activities.•Assisting the education department in environmental education activities and projects engaging youth and adults.•Leading outdoor recreation outings including interpreted nature walks, pontoon boat tours, paddling tours with canoes and kayaks, and other activities. •Conducting bilingual community outreach to Latino communities to raise awareness about better watershed stewardship. Including being one of the founding members of the Festival del Río Anacostia at the Bladensburg Waterfront Park in Bladensburg, MD since 2016.
