ABOUT JORGE ALDAY
Jorge Alday has 25 years of experience in global health, health care, philanthropy and technology. Currently, he leads Vital Strategies’ strategic communication work with STOP, a global tobacco industry watchdog. In this role, he collaborates with academic institutions, governments, advocates and investigative journalists to expose tobacco industry actions that undermine public health. He leads a team that is dedicated to telling compelling stories and counter-narratives that challenge tobacco industry misinformation.Previously, he led communications at the Peterson Center on Healthcare and served as Chief-of-Staff to the Executive Director. In this capacity, he shaped the organization\'s portfolio of grants, its infrastructure and operations and its brand. He also led global public relations and policy communications at Vital Strategies (formerly World Lung Foundation). He managed various aspects of the foundation\'s strategic communications function, developed messaging and public policy positions and directed the dissemination of such positions to stakeholders around the world. He led multi-million dollar social marketing grant programs throughout Latin America with emphasis on tobacco control in Mexico, Brazil and the Philippines. He has advised on policy advocacy and communications in China, Egypt, India, Vietnam and other countries.He was also vice president in the economic development practice at MWW Group, a top‐ten public relations firm. He was vice president in the Corporate Technology practice at Ruder Finn (now Finn Partners) in New York and an associate director at Weber Shandwick in London, where he managed public relations campaigns for corporations across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.Mr. Alday has published research on social marketing in developing countries in the American Journal of Public Health and Salud Publica, a public health journal in Mexico. He holds an MSc in International Public Policy from University College London. He also holds a BS in Public Relations and a BA in Psychology, both from Boston University. Mr. Alday is conversant in Spanish and he currently lives in Brooklyn, New York.
