WORK HISTORY
Software Engineer @Pinterest
Toronto, ON, CA
At Pinterest, I\'m working on web applications at scale. I\'ve built and maintained big data workflows, designed then implemented complex UIs with disparate APIs to improve the merchant and advertiser experience across numerous monetization surfaces. My proudest accomplishments include- Building out the UI for ad-only pins (https://help.pinterest.com/en/business/article/ad-only-pins)- This work touched numerous different monetization surfaces including desktop and mobile web, where I made sure Pins could not be saved by a Pinner, that certain analytics values did not show in analytics surfaces, and that a user could save an ad-only pin in web pinbuilders and ads manager- Improving merchant experience by leading software design and development of an auto-approval workflow using Spinner (learn more: https://medium.com/pinterest-engineering/spinner-pinterests-workflow-platform-c5bbe190ba5) workflows based off Apache Airflow- When a non-compliant merchant was found to be back in compliance, our system would auto-approve the user and ensure they could continue to distribute their products on Pinterest, a first of its kind for Pinterest\'s merchant review system- Drove quality initiatives like improving stability of end-to-end tests, improving front-end testing and ensuring best practices on end-to-end testing were followed to reduce overall developer toil- Built out growth-oriented onboarding user interfaces and ran a/b experiments, measuring performance using Jupyter Notebook- Performed on-call duties, ensuring high-quality communication, triaging and handling of stability issues- Drove design and implementation of the catalogs manager overview page (pinterest.com/business/catalogs/overview) which allows a merchant to see the organic and ad performance of their product groups, best practices and advertising upsell opportunities- Incrementally rolled out to ensure high-quality experiences for merchant, catching errors at 1% ramp and fixing forward

SKILLS
ABOUT JORDYN MARCELLUS
Hi, I\'m Jordyn and I want to use my skills as a technologist to build a better future for everyone. My favourite moments at work are jamming on whiteboards with the team, crushing code and collaborating closely with customers to build web software people love. Wherever I go, I leave a positive impact left behind. I\'ve built interactive web games for mobile advertising, a React-Redux web platform to control IoT devices and a GraphQL API gateway that brought together legacy monolith codebases and an emergent distributed system of microservices to serve client developers. I\'ve helped developed high-quality integration testing strategies that allow teams to develop faster and more safely, threaded important business logic through legacy systems to drive multi-multi-million dollar results, shipped experiences and not the org chart - all while keeping the vibes excellent. I\'m passionate about the open web, and want to build great things in a full-stack way: owning the code from infra, to back-end to front-end, keeping feedback loops tight to experiment and iterate quickly. My preference is Typescript up and down the stack, but I\'m a swiss-army knife who has written Java, Python and Ruby on Rails code. I believe that shipped is better than perfect, rolling-forward and not backm and that prod is the only thing that matters. I\'m a CI/CD fanatic who believes in extensive unit and integration testing coupled with deep observability to ensure a delightful, stable and reliable customer experience that drives meaningful impact for the business. If that speaks to you, we should chat.
