WORK HISTORY
Founder, Facilitator @Love Roar Spirit Lab
San Francisco, CA, US
YOGA | RESEARCH | DESIGN Founded a virtual wellness service delivering inclusive and accessible yoga, meditation and therapeutic behavioral interventions in wellness, academic and corporate settings through public and private avenues, including the Esalen Institute and UCSF. Founded a social initiative providing low-cost and community (free) healing opportunities using participatory design to individuals struggling to balance complex behavioral health recovery with daily life, exacerbated by COVID-19 impact on social health determinants. Currently teaching in the San Francisco Bay Area and internationally. Love Roar Spirit Lab (LRSL) is a social initiative in discovery of behavioral health solutions grounded in resilience and dynamic healing. Love Roar Spirit Lab aims to increase health equity by providing auxiliary wellness services to clinical providers alongside clinical treatments for vulnerable individuals with complex behavioral health issues -centering sexually marginalized and intersectionally marginalized individuals. We seek to help individuals come into intimate relationship with their health challenges, and translate recovery to foundational domains of life, with a focus on finding personal health agency to achieve ongoing and optimal well-being. We are actively designing an internal LRSL program to provide effective social support for individuals and families living with a history of sexual violence, with aims of offering this as a larger social initiative. The challenge: What does it mean to be \"well\" in a modern world. Our current health structures and tools often create barriers that result in a forced choice between “getting well” and and getting into life - especially for those living with pervasive symptoms of historic trauma in conjunction with systemic set-ups that may increase negative symptoms and even compound or create new traumas. There should be zero forced choice between choosing life and choosing healing.
