ABOUT JORDAN TRAAS
I am a mechanical engineer who brings a passion for excellence in engineering to my current role as a reliability engineer with Skookumchuck Pulp. I completed my degree at UBC Vancouver with distinction in the mechatronics option of mechanical engineering. My fourth-year capstone project offered a glimpse into the challenges available in pulp and paper ultimately leading me to a career in Pulp and Paper. In my current role, I have learned about how the practical implementation of maintenance activities including lubrication, precision maintenance, and rebuild practices can affect equipment longevity. I have learned about the effectiveness of root cause analysis and the importance of effective problem solving and troubleshooting and use these skills on a daily basis. I have harnessed my technical skills to solve tough problems that have saved the mill hundreds of thousands of dollars in lost pulp production. I enjoy the endless opportunity a career in reliability presents. Apart from work, I enjoy spending time being active outdoors backcountry skiing, rock climbing, kayaking, and mountain biking. My technical mind goes to work at home designing and fabricating custom parts for any of my 3 engine swapped and extensively modified Nissan cars.
