Blockchain technology provides the unique ability for information to be stored in a decentralized node network that cannot be censored, hacked, or erased. Through this medium, students and educators can interact with curriculum and each other and be assured of the integrity of the content they produce and consume. Curriculum will be all-encompassing and encrypted through the Interplanetary File System (IPFS). Firefly will be built on a proof-of-stake blockchain system supporting an unlimited number of students, collectives, and brick and mortar learning centers franchised from the company. Prerecorded content and live classes will be available on the platform, allowing students to pick and choose classes based on their individual needs and interest areas. There will be a native cryptocurrency for use within the proposed system that will be the uniform medium of exchange on the network. Financial rewards are issued to students for subject mastery, to teachers for salaries, and to content creators for approved content. Tokens can be exchanged for other currencies, prizes, or new curriculum. This is a revolutionary concept and the only of its kind as it will pay students for the mastery of their subjects and will foster a community of educators who can create and be compensated for their contributions to the system. As an alternative tutoring experience, both online and in person, Firefly will be a cutting-edge platform that will shape the future of education as we know it.
