As counsel in Davis Polk’s White Collar Defense & Investigations group, my practice focuses on advising clients on compliance and anti-corruption matters, including regularly assessing and developing compliance programs, advising on remediation steps and implementation of effective compliance programs, engaging in risk assessments, and advising on corporate governance issues. My significant experience in compliance includes serving as acting Chief Compliance Officer for a global industrial company. I conduct due diligence and provide strategic, structural, contractual and risk mitigation advice in connection with M&A, joint ventures, investments and third-party engagements, and also provide advice in connection with civil, criminal and internal investigations relating to alleged violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, fraud and other financial crimes. Clients turn to me for practical advice on day-to-day compliance issues, including in connection with contractual negotiations, reviewing policies and procedures, enhancing internal systems and controls, training and disciplinary issues.
