WORK HISTORY
Computer Engineer @Nasa Goddard Space Flight Center
Greenbelt, MD, US
I design and deploy advanced software systems that support large-scale scientific discovery across Earth, planetary, and space domains. My work sits at the intersection of artificial intelligence, high-performance computing, geospatial science, and secure infrastructure, enabling missions that range from mapping Martian terrain to monitoring terrestrial ecosystems with satellite data.Key Contributions:• Earth & Planetary Intelligence: Develop geospatial pipelines to map everything from asteroid surfaces to Arctic land cover, using stereo photogrammetry, semantic segmentation, and deep learning on satellite imagery from HiRISE, WorldView, MODIS, GOES, HLS, and more.• Scalable AI & HPC Workflows: Train and deploy AI models for remote sensing, classification, and time series forecasting on GPU clusters, supercomputers (e.g. NASA, DOE, DoD), and commercial cloud platforms, using cuML, Dask, PyTorch, Deepspeed, Triton, and many other technologies.• Foundation Models & Scientific ML: Contribute to large-scale modeling efforts (e.g, SatVision-TOA, Aurora, GenCast) by integrating transformers, diffusion models, and physics-based priors into domain-adapted Earth observation models.• Secure Research Infrastructure: Lead DevSecOps initiatives with Kubernetes, GitLab, ELK, and zero-trust policies to protect scientific workflows—from data ingestion to inference—at scale.• Full-Stack & Data Systems Engineering: Build and maintain custom tooling for data processing, tiling, analysis, and visualization, supporting reproducible science across multi-petabyte archives.• Mentorship & STEM Impact: Actively mentor students, lead outreach programs, and support open science by making advanced computing accessible to the next generation of researchers.

ABOUT JORDAN A C.
I am a senior machine learning and systems engineer with 10 years of experience architecting HPC systems, AI infrastructure and end-to-end pipelines for large-scale geospatial and scientific applications. At NASA Goddard, I lead the development of GPU-accelerated deep learning systems and models deployed across on-premises and cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, Azure), optimizing inference runtimes (e.g. Triton) and containerized (e.g. Docker, Singularity) ML workflows. My research at the University of Maryland focuses on wildfire prediction using multi-temporal satellite data, spatio-temporal transformers, and operationalizing large-scale model deployment. My goal is to bridge deep learning, HPC, and remote sensing to turn complex data into fast, operational intelligence.Core Skills:• Deep Learning (PyTorch, TensorFlow, JAX, TorchGeo, Transformers)• AI Inference (Triton, CUDA, ONNX)• Remote Sensing & Geospatial AI (VHR data, Foundation Models)• HPC & Cloud Infrastructure (Slurm, AWS, GCP)• Model Deployment · Scientific ML · MLOps (Kubeflow, Ansible, Puppet)• Distributed Systems (MPI, Dask, Ray, Deepspeed)• Containerization (Docker, Podman, Singularity)• CI/CD (Github Actions, Gitlab CI)• Time Series Forecasting (Weather Foundation Models, Fire Forecasting, WRF)• Data Fusion (Multispectral, Hyperspectral, SAR)Here is my Google Scholar for additional publications: & hl=es.Here is my GitHub for details on my technical work: https://github.com/jordancaraballo.
