ABOUT JORDAN RYAN
As a Research Technician at Massachusetts General Hospital, I am involved in investigating the use of innovative biomaterials in combination with surgical intervention as a means of locally delivering immunological and chemotherapeutic agents to specific tissues or organs for treatment of various cancers. This role allows me to build on previous experiences where I had worked on cell-based immunotherapies at MiNK (formerly AgenTus) Therapeutics and in cancer genetics and translational research in the Onaitis Lab at the University of California San Diego. I was able to use these experiences as a foundation for the start of several collaborations with the labs of Mark Grinstaff, Ph.D. from Boston University, and Wilson Wong, Ph.D. also from Boston University. In 2024, I completed my Master of Science in Biotechnology from Northeastern University College of Science. I pursued this degree to gain a deeper understanding of the principles and applications of biotechnology, the rules and regulations that guide industry operations, and to explore roles that require an understanding and experience of both the science/research and the medicine/clinical applications of biomedical innovation. My undergraduate studies in Biochemistry at Northeastern University and accompanying research experiences have provided me with a strong foundation in the scientific methods and techniques used in molecular biology, immunology, tissue engineering, and chemical biology laboratory investigations. I am passionate about advancing knowledge and understanding of cancer treatment and improving patient outcomes and am interested in applying and expanding my knowledge to other pathologies and technologies in my next research opportunity.
