About Jon Schlegel
With over 27 years of cybersecurity experience, Jon Schlegel is a cybersecurity executive, adjunct professor, and retired Lieutenant Colonel formulating a cybersecurity career in public and private companies as well as U.S state and federal government organizations. Retiring from 25 years of active military service, he led both offensive and defensive cyber teams defending the United States against the most sophisticated cyber actors. As a program leader supporting the global war on terrorism, Jon was responsible for developing high-tech hardware and software solutions in conjunction with academia, federal research laboratories, and allied nations. Jon currently teaches at Wilmington University as an adjunct professor at both the graduate and undergraduate levels for the past 14 years shaping and developing future professionals of cybersecurity. Supporting curriculum development at Wilmington University, Jon is a sitting member of the curriculum development board advising on cyber course development.In 2022 Jon departed military service in pursuit of the commercial sector, joining DuPont (NASDAQ: DD) to lead the cybersecurity strategy and vision for a Fortune 200, multi-industral company. He serves as the Global Chief Information Security Officer, responsible for over global employees accessing both IT and OT systems. In a short period, Jon has matured the security program with advancements and innovation across 3rd party cyber risk and OT/manufacturing security resulting in increased NIST readiness. Responsible for IT regulation and compliance, Jon has delivered 97% or better for two annual external SOX assessments and ensures 100% compliance for GDPR, ITAR, CUI, EAR Controls, and SEC reporting while maintaining high ISO 27001, NIST, and SOC 2 assessments.
