ABOUT JON RUSZKA FIMAREST
After studying Aeronautical Engineering and Offshore Engineering at degree and postgraduate level respectively, I joined the upstream oil industry. With over 35 years experience in drilling applications engineering, project management, technology development, product management, operations supervision and business development, I returned to university to study renewables. Since early 2021 I have been primarily involved in offshore wind farms with focus on early-phase opportunity evaluation and development. I remain energy agnostic, supportive of responsible energy generation, distribution and use. Proven history working internationally with teams developing strategy, launching & applying technology, delivering objective-focused outcomes. I enjoy pushing boundaries, challenging what was previously considered by some to be \"impossible\". Examples include enabling sanctioning of projects due to demonstrable step changes in operational efficiency and risk reduction.Active member of Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE); 10 SPE papers published, served over 10 years as committee member for the annual IADC/SPE Drilling Conference, 5 years serving the editorial committee of the SPE Journal of Petroleum Technology (Horizontal and Complex-Trajectory Wells Feature) and drilling technology committee member for 2013 SPE Offshore Europe Conference. Published author in numerous industry journals and guest speaker at international conferences. In my free time I enjoy road cycling, hiking, sailing and SCUBA diving.
