WORK HISTORY
Senior Product Manager @Mhclg Digital
Over the past few months, I’ve been leading work on one of the most complex and rewarding parts of the digital planning reform programme — testing new planning data specifications with industry through five pilot partnerships across England. These pilots bring together local authorities, software suppliers, and the Planning Portal to answer a critical question: how will new planning data standards integrate with the systems that process applications every day?Our goal is simple but significant — to build the evidence, alignment, and confidence needed before national rollout. The work is structured around three phases:• Analysis – understanding how current systems align with the draft data standard and identifying where change is needed.• Testing – trialling proposed specifications in live environments to validate feasibility.• Preparation for transition – supporting suppliers and councils to plan for full adoption once standards are formalised. It’s been a fascinating challenge in cross-organisation delivery, balancing user needs, technical constraints, and policy ambition — all while ensuring local authorities and suppliers move forward together.
