SKILLS
ABOUT JON NORIE
So what is important to me?A highly inclusive culture. I want to bring my whole self to work and allow those I lead to do the same.A high performing company. The opportunity to learn and grow and to share my experience widely.A recognition that money is not more important than our colleagues wellbeing.I am really interested in the human connection and the experience that we all have with both our employers as individuals and the experience our customers have with our businesses. This gives me a very people centric way of working and hold this very highly in my list of non-negotiables when it comes to a professional environment and the culture that I find myself in when it comes to my career. I am very fortunate to have worked in many business sectors during my career so far which have included Financial Services, Convenience Retail, Hospitality, Contract Catering and Facilities Management and to have supported business and customers from many walks of life, such as Close Brothers, NAAFI, The Military, Compass Group, ISS, Sodexo, KBR, NHS, Benugo (Crown Estate, University of Oxford and The Holburne Museum), Mitie and Gather and Gather (CH & CO Group) with Oxford Brookes University. This gives me a very well rounded view of what consumers want when choosing to spend their hard earned money. It is an approach that I have also been able to transfer to my work as a successful leader in business. By recognising that my employees have a choice in where they work and with the increasing drive for greater work/life balance it is important to me that I create an environment where everyone can find a place to belong and flourish. By understanding individual’s motivations and drivers I am able to help create an inclusive culture which accepts people for who they are and values differences and individuality. As a direct consequence of my leadership style and valuing every role in my organisations I have been able to achieve many things in business such as:Successfully led a large team in the largest Defence PFI in Europe to deliver an additional £1m profitDeveloped a food offer to drive an additional £1.2m in profit in year 1.Led the Retail and Leisure offer mobilisation across 14 RAF Stations on the same day. These achievements show my versatility in business and my ability to adapt to the ever changing world of work regardless of industry alignment or sector.
