The Five Year Forward View for Mental Health and Long Term Plan sets the direction for mental health reform in England. As Programme Manager of the PMO, I oversee a small team managing the cross-agency governance and financial portfolios supporting its delivery. More recently I developed and led the stakeholder engagement plan to ensure the priorities of service users, carers and the wider sector were front and centre of the mental health ambitions in the Long Term Plan for the NHS. As part of a small team I coordinated and developed the evidence base for increased investment in mental health services to 2023/24, backed by the voices of some people we engaged.I am currently finalising programme inputs to the Implementation Framework to provide health system leaders with the tools and information they need to develop localised plans to achieve national ambitions for mental health care. This includes embedding the equalities agenda to improve access, outcomes and experiences of care for groups facing particular barriers.
