About Jonn Segovia Menchaca

Jonn (he/him/él) is a Queer Chicano activist attending the University of California, Berkeley, where he studies Chicanx/Latinx Studies and intends to double major with Political Science and a minor in Race & Law. Born and raised in City Heights in San Diego, California, he faced educational barriers as a first-generation, low income, student of color. Despite his experiences, he aspires to become an attorney who centers his community in his restorative work.

    Teach and lead a cohort of 20 first generation and low-income rising high school seniors through the college application process, scholarship applications, and higher education opportunities.Spearhead the first iteration of the Content Creation Cohort at First Gen Scholars, where students create content surrounding first generation college readiness, such as podcast-making, art, and graphic design, facilitated by a student-tailored curriculum. Providing equitable and accessible educational opportunities to under represented students while collaborating with organization directors to provide educational resources.
