The original VEO app was developed in collaboration with business partner Paul Miller in response to a growing need for a simple tool to help people get better at what they do through self reflection and peer coaching. The application of the tool in other areas came about quickly as companies, clinicians and other professionals realised the value of video in CPD, personal and process audit, monitoring and assessment. VEO pulls together data and video to help inform, educate and improve both systems, processes and people. My experience of teaching, coaching and mentoring and initial teacher training provided the underpinning knowledge and awareness of the challenges faced in professional development. Through my personal interest in, and proficient use of, ICT in the workplace, I was keen to utilise existing technologies to develop a tool and system to provide individuals with the opportunity to improve their own professional practice through peer and self review and

ABOUT JON HAINES
At Newcastle University we train >100 new secondary school teachers per year through our PGCE programme, working in close partnership with our School Direct partner schools and >40 fantastic placement schools across NE England. As an experienced science teacher and head of department, I hope that my enthusiasm for working with and teaching young people, and for the sciences, supports my student teachers as they begin to develop the characteristics and skills of an effective teacher throughout their studies and school-based practice.As co-founder of VEO (Video Enhanced Observation) Ltd. I am proud to be involved in the development of this fantastic tool and methodology to aid, support and enable continued professional development and process audit within both education and commercial/industrial sectors.
