I’m a Scorpio. I love long walks on the beach, movies and other cliches that let me seek genuine connections. Which feels like a very LinkedIn thing to say. Oh but you want to know about why to connect with me on here? Well here’s 10 reasons:1. I’ve been an employment lawyer for the last 19 years. That’s long enough to know that most employment law problems aren’t really about the law. They’re about people, timing and conversations that didn’t happen when they should have. I advise on complex people and HR issues, for some of the UK’s biggest employers. These range from people and process issues through to industrial relations and employee engagement matters. You know icky people stuff. My main specialism is complex employment tribunal litigation. Let’s be honest, that’s where the good (and bad) stuff happens. That means I’m an advocate too. So I like to ask questions. I’ve been seconded in-house at one of the UK’s leading hospitality businesses. Which means I understand what clients actually want from their lawyers. Not just technically correct answers, but judgement, perspective and advice that works in the real world. I also work in tech and innovation as a Product and Innovation Partner. I can’t help with your random page breaks in Word though.7. It means I don’t just deal with problems. A lot of my work is about helping clients think differently about risk, conflict and decision making. You might have 99 problems, but legal don’t need to be one. I have lots of ideas. Some work-related. Some not. I connect dots between legal delivery and innovation. Think Field of Dreams - “If we build it, they will come.” Only less Kevin Costner.9. We get recognised too. Our Equality Act decision-making tool was a runner-up in the Managing Partner Forum Awards and our Product and Innovation Team came runner up at the British Legal Tech Awards 2022. Sometimes you have to let others come first. I appear to be the 3rd most interesting Jon Gregson on Google. Go ahead. Check. I am terrible at basic literacy. And LinkedIn?
