ABOUT JONATHAN FURSE

I’m an experienced senior technical leader, with a hybrid background of engineering, product management and programme leadership and with a deep practical knowledge of Agile development methodologies. I’m skilled at bridging the technology and commercial aspects of digital product development.I have led teams of up to 100 people, geographically distributed across several locations and suppliers, to build and operate brand-critical services and capabilities. I\'ve built and managed complex, multi-year programmes of work, acting in technical, product and delivery roles and benefiting multiple internal and external customer personas and board-level stakeholders and sponsors.In 20••••19 I directed a highly successful programme of business transformation, to define and execute a cross-department location strategy. I was responsible for establishing a robust business case, selecting a local partner and location, then executing an 18 month transition, during which I led the build of a new product and technology facility in Sofia, Bulgaria. Working with a local supplier, I facilitated an employee-led transition of technical ownership which required delicate diplomacy for a sustained period to ensure engagement by departing staff and contractors, whilst simultaneously recruiting and onboarding 60+ new engineering staff in the new facility.I have a proven track record in re-designing monolithic architectural platforms into modern, API-driven, and cloud-based microservices architectures and an ability to plan the migration of complex business processes and customer migration cohorts over many iterations whilst maintaining business continuity. I have a strong belief in data-driven continuous improvement and learning through delegated empowerment, open communication and accountability.I served as a board member of Substantive Research, supporting the company’s growth and strategic direction during a key stage of its development. I worked with the leadership team through the M&A process that led to Substantive Research’s acquisition by Euronext in 2024.
