ABOUT JONETTA L.
Jonetta’s Liberian heritage, combined with her American citizenship shapes the lens through which she views the world. A host of traditions, belief systems, and values beautifully narrated her upbringing, making her no stranger to the complex issues in the fields of public policy, healthcare, and social activism. Jonetta’s strong desire to alleviate these issues in vulnerable communities led her to study public health. She is passionate about researching social determinants of health–especially immigrant, refugee, and migrant health–in order to provide culturally-congruent solutions on a community level. She also has a strong interest in researching fashion and beauty as cultural translations. She maintains her personal blog, Haus of Jonetta, across Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube. At UMBC, she is currently serving as a research assistant in the Research on Social Conditions and Health Equity lab.
