As Youth Services Manager I oversee and assess the overall operations of department programs, projects, and initiatives that support domestic and newcomer youth settlement, education, recreation, mental health and wellness, and social integration. I lead the development and implementation of internal and external mental health and wellness policies, programs, and activities centred around the newcomer experience. I review literature and brief staff on anti-oppressive practices to further support our equity, diversity, and inclusion efforts. I support the awareness of community and neighbourhood action plans to support on-going community development and engagement, and manage the implementation of training, programming systems, and safety protocols relating to all youth-related programs and initiatives. I create and manage partnerships with external stakeholders and community partners to fill services gaps experienced by newcomer and marginalized youth. I lead the recruitment, hiring, coaching, and evaluation of new and existing department staff, and oversee bi-weekly scheduling, vacation requests, and timesheet approval. I currently manage a budget in excess of annually, limiting slippage.
