SKILLS
ABOUT JONATHAN TSUI
Experienced and collaborative researcher with expertise in the fields of tissue engineering, biomaterials, and drug delivery, with a proven track record of successful project management. My Ph.D. research was focused on investigating the impact of microenvironmental cues mediated by novel biomaterials on cellular development in the context of 3D tissue engineering. Specifically, I was interested in developing strategies for improving the function and maturation of hiPSC-derived cardiomyocytes such that they could be used reliably in drug cardiotoxicity assays. My graduate studies also involved bioprinting to generate tissues in a high-throughput manner. As a postdoctoral fellow I led a project to develop a semi-automated human cardiac-tissue-on-a-chip system that was launched to the International Space Station (ISS) to study the effects of microgravity on cardiac dysfunction.
