About Jonathan Miller
I am a writer, editor, audio producer, media project leader, and advocate for free creative expression. In addition to my media work, I coordinate the ONWARDS project, a national effort to help displaced scholars, writers, artists, journalists, and human rights defenders prepare for lives and careers in the United States. I am also founder and co-director of Story House Ithaca, a community organization that brings people together around stories in all their forms. As a journalist, I have produced hundreds of features and news reports for NPR, BBC, and other radio networks around the world. I have written feature articles for dozens of national and international magazines and newspapers, including The New Yorker, Condé Nast Traveler, Parents, American Way, and the Christian Science Monitor. I have won several national awards for my radio work and writing. As executive director of the nonprofit journalism collective Homelands Productions, I have designed and led several large international reporting projects for public radio and television. I have also worked as senior producer for the Wondery podcast The Next Big Idea and as communications director of the Mario Einaudi Center for International Studies at Cornell University. I have worked as a video journalist and as a consulting editor and writer for international development organizations in Asia, Latin America, and Africa. I have lectured, led workshops, and co-taught university classes. I also serve on the board of Ithaca City of Asylum, an all-volunteer group that supports writers and artists in exile and advocates for freedom of creative expression around the world.
