ABOUT JONATHAN CHRISTIE

I am a highly experienced clinician, healthcare leader, and Residency Program Director with more than two decades of experience shaping strategy and driving results in a customer and patient centric organization. Currently, the Department Manager for Optometry in Los Angeles with Kaiser Permanente. I oversee an area consisting of three-location, 30 doctor practice, that sees more than visits a year. These locations generate millions in sales revenue annually. Beyond my work as an Optometrist, I’ve developed an appreciation for business efficiencies, process improvements, and managing the business unit’s revenue and the associated profit and loss (P&L) responsibilities. This drove me to pursue my MBA, and to become more involved at various stages in business operations throughout my career. As I’ve become more and more interested in creating innovative solutions and projects that help to generate revenue, reduce costs, and improve the overall quality of care that is offered to patients. In 2018, I pitched such a project during a shark tank pitch competition ultimately finishing as a finalist. Additionally, I’ve had the pleasure of leading a number of cross-functional teams where we improved LA Optometry’s flu vaccination rates from last to #1 in So-Cal. We also designed and implemented a new blood pressure screening program and diabetic lab testing program in the department exceeding our goals. I also led a multidisciplinary team to start KPs first Post Stroke/TBI vision rehabilitation program. Combined, these initiatives helped to meet customer needs, improve lives, build a more healthy, resilient community, and improve KP’s HEDIS metrics. I have extensive experience in academic clinical trials, serving as a Co-Investigator, Site Coordinator, and Collaborator. Additionally, I successfully established and have been directing KP\'s inaugural Optometry Residency Program in So-Cal. I enjoy creating solutions to enhance healthcare quality through collaboration with teams and stakeholders. I\'m also keen on exploring healthcare technology to address customer or patient needs. Finally, I am an Adj. Clinical Asst. Professor with So-Cal College of Optometry. Where I help to educate mentor optometry residents within a 2-doctor residency program. I’m always open to connecting with like-minded professionals to discuss industry trends and insights. Feel free to reach out if you’d like to network or explore potential collaborations.
