You are here to make things better” my first manager at Mars As a management trainee and manager at Mars I received some of the best leadership and business training available. I worked in or with most areas of the business, there was a high level of investment in personal development and I was in an environment where the culture was to be the best at everything we did and not accept second best - to push the envelope of what was possible. Whilst at Mars I had the opportunity to go to China which I absolutely loved - the dynamism, the enthusiasm and the chance to try out new ideas and ways of doing things. Qualifying as a management accountant (Chartered Institute of Management Accounting) I learnt the language of business and how to use insights gained to transform a business. As VP of Finance & Operations for adidas China/Greater China, I needed to constantly challenge and rethink everything we were doing to build a business capable of managing several years of high double digit and even triple digit growth. I am proud that we not only managed this growth and that our performance was exceptional but that we achieved our vision of being a role model both in the group and in China. Now back in the UK, as Director of J Nicholls and Associates, I am privileged to work with passionate, committed business leaders who want to make a step change to the performance of their business and recognise that it is a lot easier and more effective to do this with the right outside help.
