ABOUT JONATHAN MONTOMOLI
I am a passionate and competent scientist and clinician working in intensive care and anesthesiology. I am a strong supporter of multidisciplinarity and, since I was a medical student, I enjoyed spending time in different research and clinical environment (i.e: laboratory, clinic, epidemiology). Hence, while studying medicine I joined as intern different departments such as anatomic pathology, genetics, and during the last years of medical school, I was interning in the department of emergency and internal medicine. I always had clear my aims and I did my best to overcome difficulties and learn the most updates clinical practice. Moreover, I had the certainty that my education would have benefit to visiting other institutions besides Bologna University. For this reason, I attended one year as ERASMUS student at the New University of Lisbon and I spent three months at Aarhus University in preparation for my bachelor thesis. After Medical School I worked in the field of emergency medicine and I was really interested to develop research skills. Therefore, I decided that a PhD in the field of Clinical Epidemiology, especially in the coming era of big data, would have provided me with the tools and knowledge I was looking for. I got a PhD scholarship in one of the best Department of Clinical Epidemiology in Europe at Aarhus University (supervisor Professor Henrik Toft Sørensen). There, I acquired the capacity to work with big databases, plan and carry out appropriate statistical analyses, writing research projects, and properly interpret existing literature. In November 2021 I completed my residency in anaesthesiology and intensive care at the University of Ancona with Prof. Donati and since 2017 I am visiting researcher at the research group of Prof. Ince in the Netherlands carrying out research on microcirculation monitoring. Since the end of 2021 I am consultant in anesthesiology and intensive care at the Infermi Hospital in Rimini and coordinator several research projects. I feel comfortable carrying responsibilities, I am keen on grow my clinical knowledge and develop new ideas. Last but not least, I love to face challenging situations and I am used to working both independently and in a team.
