I’m part of a small team working within Screen Academy Scotland to organise a professional practice programme for MA Film and MA Screenwriting students. I help prepare an ongoing series of events, masterclasses and tutorials that run parallel to students’ main classes and curriculum, offering insights into different careers in the film and TV industry, as well as mentoring opportunities.I also work on the Screen Scotland-funded Screen NETS training programme, helping to place new entrants to Scotland’s film and TV industry into positions on a range of productions. Screen NETS is a successful and long running, on-the-job apprenticeship programme, training our next generation of craft, technical, production and design trainees for the screen industry in Scotland.

ABOUT JONATHAN MELVILLE
With experience in screenwriting, digital content creation, marketing, communications and arts journalism, I graduated from Screen Academy Scotland’s MA Screenwriting course in 2021 with a Distinction. Now working part time at Screen Academy Scotland on professional practice with MA Film & Screenwriting students, I’m also freelancing as a Development Researcher with BBC Multiplatform Productions, and script reading for Shore Scripts. After taking John Yorke’s Story for Script Development course in 2021, I’ll be looking for script editing/development work in late 2022 after completing work on my third non-fiction book. Media/creative experience includes- Scripting/recording/editing audio packages for BBC radio and podcasts- Film/TV journalism - research and writing for online and print publications- Wrote two books on film history in 2015 and 2020, now working on a third- Filming/editing short-form video using Adobe Premiere Pro/audio in Audacity- Created Scottish TV/film website reelscotland.com in 2010.
