About Jon McBride
As the associate athletic director for communications and media strategy at BYU Athletics, I lead a team of professionals who collaborate to tell our own story as our own media entity, leveraging a robust infrastructure and working with news media and other influential partners. I have 15+ years of experience in communications, PR, media relations, social media management, brand communications, crisis communications and digital strategy.I have a passion for building community and spreading digital reach with micro-influencer relations and through employee advocacy. One of my most unique professional accomplishments was landing a pitch to Beyoncé’s publicist and getting a post out to her 63 million followers, but my most meaningful work has been in using new media platforms to address hard-hitting and impactful topics such as sexual assault, consent, mental health, racism, conflict management, respect and more. I am an avid collaborator and crowdsourcer who values innovation, creativity and diversity.
