About Jonathan Lightfoot
With a background in business administration and urban planning, I serve as the Community Development Director for the City of Dana Point, where I oversee planning, building and safety, and code enforcement. My work focuses on guiding thoughtful development, maintaining high-quality service delivery, and supporting a strong local business and community environment.Having worked in city planning and community development throughout my career, I have extensive experience with land use policy, development entitlements, and permitting processes. I enjoy working at the intersection of policy, design, and community values to help create places that are memorable—places that bring people together, reflect local character, and support vibrant economies.Before earning my graduate degree in Urban and Regional Planning, I worked in the private sector applying my business administration background, which continues to inform my pragmatic approach to problem-solving and economic development.
