GLOBAL TELECOMMUNICATIONS TRANSACTIONS: Lead attorney to telecommunications division of a large algorithmic trading firm active in over 100 markets around the world. Responsible for advising and representing a team responsible for ensuring that our traders have reliable access to the lowest latency telecommunications routes between trading venues on the best commercial terms. Responsible for reviewing and negotiating or supervising a broad range of matters critical to keeping the firm on the bleeding edge of telecommunications technology. Advise business people, traders, engineers and others on negotiation and drafting of contracts for high-speed data lines spanning the globe and colocation of hardware and software in markets where we trade while navigating “permanent establishment” and other local regulatory risks. Work with market data manager to license market data from exchanges and third party vendors and ensure internal compliance with use and retention terms. Engage and supervise outside counsel in the U.S. and abroad to address complex legal and regulatory issues relevant to our technology infrastructure. Advise management, operations and finance teams on structure, costs, benefits and risks of strategic technology transactions. Provide constant counsel and feedback on new strategic proposals and crazy ideas that might just be the future of our business.
