About Jonathan de Wolff
I’m the Chief Sustainability Officer, Head of Corporate Philanthropy, and a co-founder of inKind. We are an Austin-based fintech that helps more than hospitality operators across the U.S. access smart, restaurant-by-design financing. At inKind, I lead our sustainability and impact strategy, building programs that make the restaurant industry more financially resilient, socially equitable, and environmentally responsible—especially our independent restaurants. Through the Restaurant Toolkit, we’re partnering with mission-driven entrepreneurs to help independent operators go beyond financial survival. The Toolkit comprises services like Stressie, which normalizes mental wellness strategies into restaurant culture, Evently, which helps venues engage with their community by facilitating special event bookings, and Ecotone and Afterlife Ag that tackle the 22–33 billion pounds of food waste that end up in U.S. landfills every year, using on-site anaerobic digestion and mycelium-based carbon capture to turn waste into organic fertilizer and delicious mushrooms. I also manage inKind’s public–private partnerships, collaborating with city governments and local agencies to design programs and policies that better support independent restaurants as vital components of local economies. These partnerships are focused on sustainability, workforce development, and ensuring that operators have access to quality and vetted resources and business tools. Our philanthropic work focuses on fortifying the restaurant ecosystem. Ensuring that charities that provide much-needed support to our operators and their staff—ranging from workplace safety to mental healthcare and upskilling—is paramount and at the heart of our mission. Before joining inKind, I founded SumRando, a cybersecurity company based in South Africa that provided secure internet access to more than seven million users, including journalists, activists, women, and LGBTQ+ individuals across the Global South.Today, I’m also an active angel investor, backing seed-stage ventures in tech, hospitality, and food innovation, supporting founders who are building the next generation of mission-driven businesses.
