ABOUT JONATHAN YEATES
Service Design Director at Zone a Cognizant business. Previously Head of Design at ExperienceLab and Experience Design Manager at Nous Group, Melbourne and London. Service Design | User Experience (UX)| Strategic Design | Research | Digital Transformation | Visual Design and Content I am a senior public services designer who is passionate about human-centred design and how it can be applied to solve knotty, human problems throughout the public service. I firmly believe we can transform government and deliver better, cheaper services by designing with the people who use them and working across departmental lines using whole-of-government approaches. For over a decade, I have led and worked extensively with a range of government departments, not-for-profits and public bodies on award-winning transformation projects that have had profound impact, at scale. Therefore I understand that to work effectively in political environments requires me to be more than a certified user experience design and agile practitioner. Effective design requires studious consideration of the regulatory environment; clear, aligned communications; and engaging, tailored stakeholder management. I comfortable leading projects across the entire design process; from strategy, research and design; to implementation, product development and capability development. I am also an experienced facilitator, professional coach and I lead regular human-centred design training courses with Zone, RMITOnline and General Assembly. In my spare time I am a competitive club runner and cyclist. I am also passionate about art history and graphic design and have recently formed a strange niche designing beer labels. Notable projects include: IGNITE: New ways of working – Department of Premier and Cabinet Victoria 2020 Australian Government Digital Awards finalist - Outstanding digital methodology or approach award Whitelion Y4Y Youth Force pre-employment program 2020 Good Design Award Winner - Social Impact 2020 Victorian Premier\'s Design Award finalist - Service Design The Better Approvals Project 2018 IPAA Victoria Leadership Awards finalist - Human-Centred Service Delivery Award Patchwork - Case coordination digital application for child and family practitioners 2016 Good Design Australia Award Winner - Social Innovation
