The Argent LNG project, located in Port Fourchon, Louisiana, is on track to achieve a total capacity of 25 MTPA. The facility is strategically positioned to the west of Belle Pass on an initial 900-acre site owned by the Greater Lafourche Port Commission, distinct from the existing developments of Port Fourchon.Initiated in August 2017, Fourchon LNG, a subsidiary of Energy World, applied to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) for the establishment of an LNG Terminal at Port Fourchon in Lafourche Parish, Louisiana. The facility, spanning up to 900 acres west of Belle Pass, beyond the current port development, is designed with Worley as the EPC and development program managers, Kiewit as the contractor, and utilizing single mixed refrigerant technology with a total capacity of 25 MTPA. The estimated cost for the initial phase is US $10 billion. Additionally, the project includes a smaller-scale liquefaction plant tailored to supply LNG for the next generation of LNG-Argent’s goal of providing fuel to power generation assets in Japan, South East Asia, South America, Europe, the Caribbean, Türkiye and the MENA region.A Waterway Suitability Assessment has been completed, and Port Fourchon Executive Director Chett Chiasson anticipates full authorization within the next two years.Following the termination of Fourchon LNG\'s lease with Port Fourchon, ARGENT LNG stepped in and secured an agreement with the port. The updated timeline indicates that construction for Phase 1, featuring an LNG train with a 12.5 MTPA capacity, a storage tank, and associated marine facilities for LNG loading and exporting, is set to commence in mid-2025. Commercial operation is expected by fourth quarter 2029. Phase 2, projected to begin commercial operation in mid-2030, will increase capacity by an additional 12.5 MTPA. Current activities involve advancing the final filing of resource reports, obtaining FERC approval, formalizing gas supply agreements, and securing funding.
