Environmental Programs Division: Methane Mitigation Unit - Permit issuance of building permits for new buildings, enclosed structures, additions, or conversions of a building or structure to habitable or occupiable space in the presence of an unmitigated potential gas hazard. • Review and approve construction plans prepared for the installation and modification of gas protection systems in potential gas hazard areas including feet of fill sites containing decomposable materials, within 300 feet of nearby oil and gas wells, and on contaminated soils. • Issue permits with corresponding permit conditions in accordance to the Los Angeles County Code (LACC), Title 26, Sections 110.3, 110.4, and 110.5. • Oversee methane monitoring program for three contracted sites located within potential gas hazard areas.• Furnish quarterly and bi-annual methane monitoring reports of field data taken on behalf of clients.
