ABOUT JONATHAN MCKENZIE

I have worked for First Bus since November 2017 covering Hampshire, Dorset and Berkshire, the South West and our Irish operations as their combined Health, Safety & Environmental business Partner. My current role requires me to manage my diary carefully to maximise my time whilst travelling often long distances at short notice. My ability to multitask and perform under pressure ensures that all audits, tours and inspections required of me are completed on time.My work with the unions, investigatory authorities and incident investigators has shown that I have great interpersonal and negotiation skills. My investigative skills enable me to breakdown problems to find the route cause. I don’t take risks until all the evidence has been gathered and researched. I have a down to earth and analytical approach to my work. I work well with a wide audience of participants with different skill sets where I can persuade, influence and challenge ideas. I can do this with tact and diplomacy to ensure the best results are found. I also work well in my own company using self-motivation to complete time sensitive tasks required of me.I lead by encouraging others to be the best they can be. My energy and motivation to help others makes me a very effective coach, mentor and trainer. My welcoming, enthusiastic and engaging nature is a great asset when delivering training sessions and when speaking to individuals and at conferences alike.I enjoy roles where I am are called upon to be impartial and objective. My role as SHE manager has shown that I excel in roles where I can bring a group\'s thinking to fruition by carrying it out in practice. Implementing fast evolving change such as the issuance of guidance around the current pandemic, and ensuring it is understood, is an example of this. I am able to implement policy change with precision and care. I can do this because I am very reliable and can be depended on to get things right and work within often very tight time schedules.During my time with First I have shown a dedication to continually improving and expanding my safety knowledge. I have been upgraded to TechIOSH as my CPD continues to evolve and grow; most recently completing my NEBOSH National Certificate in Fire Safety and Risk Management, becoming a mental health first aider and completing my CILT CPC n Passenger Transport.
