ABOUT JONATHAN LIM

I am a Partner at WilmerHale with a global disputes practice. In recent years, I have successfully represented private and sovereign clients in high-stakes commercial and investment treaty arbitration disputes in the aerospace, construction, energy, financial services, telecommunications, and technology sectors, among others. My experience extends to all of the leading arbitration seats globally and matters governed by the laws of over 15 legal systems, including both civil law and common law systems across Asia, Africa, the Americas, and Europe. Over the last decade and more, I have acted in over 50 international arbitration and litigation proceedings, including as lead counsel. Bilingual in English and Chinese, I have handled some of the most significant international arbitration matters involving Chinese parties and the PRC in recent years. I have acted in investment treaty disputes for Chinese investors and against the PRC, and recently obtained the first reported arbitration award against the PRC. I also regularly provide strategic counsel and crisis management advice to global companies in relation to business-critical issues arising out of their China and Hong Kong businesses.I also advise and represent international organizations and governments on public international law issues. Alongside the ADB and UNCITRAL, I assisted with treaty accession and the drafting of legislation in Fiji, Iraq, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Somalia, Timor Leste, and Tonga. I teach at the National University of Singapore and sit as arbitrator.
