About Jonathan Kohen

Full-Stack Developer specializing in JavaScript, Python, and PHP from end to end. Experience building complete web applications with backend API systems. My ideal role is one in which I help others and improve their lives. Before I knew how to code, I was already thinking like a programmer. As an operations associate at Family Matters In-Home Care, among many other responsibilities, I sent hundreds of text messages a day to caregivers regarding shifts. To improve efficiency, I taught myself to use Typinator, Automator, and JavaScript to create high-speed, detailed, and personalized messages using macros. With just the press of a few keys, a macro would fetch and insert the recipient’s data from the browser into the message, fill variable values, and send it. This made sending texts exponentially more efficient. Wanting to learn more and to change careers to my newfound passion, I decided to sign up for a full-time bootcamp with Coding Dojo to pursue becoming a full-stack web developer. With a lot of hard work, I received top honors in the MERN, Python (Flask, Django), and Java (Spring Boot) stacks. I’ve loved coding ever since, and I\'m now a Junior Web Developer at American Writers and Artists Institute! I learned PHP on the job to great success, using that and SQL to manage back-end functionality, queries, and database design and creation.
