ABOUT JONATHAN J. R. REED
I am an Assistant Vice President in the Neighborhood Strategies department at the New York City Economic Development Corporation. As part of that team, I work on an array of planning-focused initiatives from adaptive reuse efforts to public realm improvement projects. Before joining EDC, I was at the New York City Housing Authority, where I worked on the Authority\'s Permanent Affordability Commitment Together (PACT) program. Through the initiative, NYCHA partners with private development teams to fund comprehensive renovations, new sustainability initiatives, and expanded on-site social services at campuses across the city in need of repairs.I received my Master\'s in Urban Planning in 2023 at NYU Wagner, where I was a Bloomberg Public Service Fellow and specialized in housing and economic development. While at Wagner, I worked part-time at Bloomberg Associates, helping provide pro bono consulting on housing and sustainability issues to city governments from Phoenix to Tampa to London. During my two-year program, I also interned at the NYC Department of Housing Preservation and Development and the Mayor\'s Office of Climate and Environmental Justice, and served as a research assistant at NYU\'s Furman Center for Real Estate and Urban Policy.Before starting graduate school in 2021, I spent five years in broadcast news. Most recently, I was a field producer based in CNBC\'s San Francisco bureau, where I covered the tech industry, startup culture, and California\'s economy. Before transitioning to the role in San Francisco, I scripted and produced market segments at CNBC’s global headquarters in New Jersey. There, I also regularly staffed the network’s Breaking News Desk, coordinating with correspondents across the country to bring developing stories to air.
