ABOUT JONATHAN JENKINS

I’ve spent more than two decades in UK civil engineering and rail, building, planning and managing some of the most challenging projects across the network. My career has been shaped on site coordinating teams, navigating possessions, managing subcontractors and delivering work safely in environments where margins for error are small and expectations are high.Since starting in 2002, I’ve worked across bridge construction and demolition, platform rebuilds, tunnel works, embankment stabilisation and major civils packages. I’ve led teams through night shifts, blockades and complex access constraints, always with the same goal: deliver quality work, keep people safe and hand over projects that stand up to scrutiny. What drives me is the craft of construction, the planning, the sequencing, the problem solving and the leadership it takes to bring a job from drawings to reality. Each project has its own pressure points, and after 23 years in the industry, I’ve learned how to anticipate them, manage them and keep teams moving in the right direction.Alongside my construction work, I’ve developed a growing interest in how AI can support the industry. Not replace the people doing the work, but help them through smarter reporting, better decision making, and tools that reduce admin and give supervisors more time on the ground. My focus is practical adoption, not hype.At my core, I’m a construction professional who understands the rail environment, delivers under pressure and believes the industry can evolve without losing what makes it great. AI is simply another tool we can use to strengthen the work we already do.
