I’m CEO of WCMC at the United Nations Environment Programme World Conservation Monitoring Centre (UNEP-WCMC), a global centre of excellence on biodiversity. Based in Cambridge, UK, we are a team of 200+ staff working at the interface of science, policy and practice to support the transition to a nature-positive futureI have extensive international experience as a conservation leader, convener and public speaker. I served on the IUCN Council for nine years, chaired the Cambridge Conservation Initiative, and founded the World Forum on Natural Capital. I’ve worked with global platforms including the World Economic Forum in Davos and UN climate and biodiversity conventions, helping build partnerships and shape action on natureI’m also active in philanthropy as a Board member and adviser to foundations and funds, helping shape strategy, governance and investment decisions to accelerate conservation and climate outcomes.Before joining UNEP-WCMC, I was CEO of the Scottish Wildlife Trust, one of Scotland’s leading conservation charities. The Trust owns and manages over 100 wildlife reserves and is a leading advocate for policies that protect and restore Scotland’s environment.
