Cover complex issues, including specialty pharmaceuticals, Medicare Part D, insurance, pharmaceutical pricing, pharmacy contracting, and prescription drug fraud, waste, and abuse. Develop and execute strategic legislative and regulatory advocacy efforts. Direct PAC operations, including FEC and LDA filings. Spearhead coordinated industry giving. Brief association CEO and member company executives on political and policy issues impacting industry. Prepare witnesses for Congressional hearings. Drive development of issue briefs, research, infographics, and talking points to reinforce advocacy efforts. Hired as Director in 2007, progressing to senior roles and promoted to Vice President in 2017.* Manage growing federal affairs team, including direct reports and consultants, overseeing $1.2M department budget.* Fostered broad cross-industry regulatory oversight initiative in opposition to major Medicare proposed rule. Campaign generated 180 Congressional signators on 12 letters, resulting in unprecedented rescinding of proposed rule by Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services in 2015, 2019, 2020, and again in 2021, preventing $200 billion negative impact.* Successfully lobbied for enactment of electronic prescribing under MIPPA of 2008 and SUPPORT Act of 2018, institution of biosimilar drug approval pathway under ACA, and CREATES Act of 2019.* Oversaw four-fold growth in Political Action Committee (PAC) over a 5-year period, participating in more than 150 events during the 2020 election cycle.* Selected as Chairman and Executive Committee Member of multiple cross-industry coalitions.* Established and moderated industry-wide working group of senior regulatory and Medicare Part D compliance staff, writing 30+ comment letters on proposed regulations and guidance.
