I am a Chartered Ecologist and Full Member of CIEEM and use my 18 years of professional ecology experience to identify ecological constraints and opportunities, and to develop effective and practical solutions to manage ecological risks, develop mitigation, compensation and enhancement strategies.At Binnies I lead a team of ecologists carrying out project work for a variety of clients. I am a specialist bat lead for projects providing training, mentoring and supervision for ecologists in the team and advice for professionals of other disciplines within Binnies. I am responsible for the continued improvement of the ecology team at Binnies, leading the implementation of new technology, guidance and training.I am skilled in carrying out ecological appraisals to inform project design and attain planning consent. Through my career I have worked on a wide range of projects for public and private sector clients, including large infrastructure, large scale housing and wind turbine developments. I have extensive experience of protected species and habitat surveys, in particular for bats, GCN, badger, barn owl, reptiles, otter and water vole. I am experienced in the compilation of Preliminary Ecological Appraisals and Ecological Impact Assessments for projects of a variety of sizes. I hold survey licences for great crested newt, barn owl and bat. I also have extensive experience in compiling and managing mitigation licences for bats, great crested newts and badgers.
